Tipperary’s little footballers got their Munster season off to a promising start with a 1-15 to 1-8 win over Limerick in their first round-robin game.

ipp used his wind advantage in the first half to push high into the opponent and pull the fouls for Conall Grogan to convert. By half-time he had already scored four times and gave his team a lead of 8-0 to 5-0.

Bobby Smith’s brilliant goal gave Limerick a lifeline before Diarmuid Hynes was free to level, but Tipp regrouped and the result was decided by Sub Fionn Fitzgerald’s goal.

Elsewhere, Clare brushed aside the challenge from Waterford to start her campaign with a 4-18, 0-4 victory.

A hat trick by Conor Fennell was offset by the exceptional Cathal Talty, who scored 1-8 for a dominant Banner side who ended up with eight different scorers.
