Did you know you can set up recordings on your Sky TV box without opening your TV guide?
in one Tiktok videoa British tech guru, showed a faster and easier way to search entries and record content.
Most people using Sky TV set recordings by pressing the TV Guide button to open a list of channels and what’s on that day.
You can then switch to something you want to watch later and click the record button to save it to your box.
That’s all well and good, but it means you have to exit what you’re watching to browse programs.
The show is minimized and moved to a small, rectangular box that appears in the top left of the guide.
In a video uploaded last year, TikTok user @wadesramsey shown how to keep whatever you’re watching in big screen mode while selecting a program to record.
To try it yourself, press Select on your Sky remote to bring up Sky’s information banner.
The small block at the bottom of your screen shows the title and description of what’s currently playing.
Press up or down to browse the channel lists and see what other channels are showing.
You can then swipe left or right to see what those channels will be showing later in the day.
Once you’ve found something you want to watch, you can press the record button to set up a recording.
This show will now be recorded – without you ever having to delve into the TV guide.
You can tell if a show has been set to record by a red icon next to its title.
Pressing the red button will set up a series link so all future episodes of that show will be downloaded.
This is indicated by two green lines next to the red record icon.
To remove the series link, press the record button again. Press the button a third time to completely remove the recording.

This means you can’t turn your TV on and off or change the volume of what you’re watching with your Sky remote.
To solve the problem, simply hold down buttons one and three on your remote while pointing it at your Sky box.
This will open the remote control setup menu. blow continue and then enter the brand of your TV.
Select the brand of TV you are using.
From here you can either enter the model number manually or have your Sky box figure it out for you.
Your box will then prompt you to press the volume buttons on your remote control to verify that the connection was successful.
Press volume up or volume down. If this changes the volume bar on your TV, press Yes.
If you have a surround sound system, you can set it up in the next menu. If not, ignore this menu and press Finished.
