When it comes to true love, we all know that the road to it is never smooth and every couple will encounter their fair share of obstacles along the way.
A woman recently revealed her own bump that had prevented her from being with her person – she would have married his best buddy.
Event planner Desiree White from Illinois, USA, explained how her husband was the best man from the start marriage back in 2010.
And it’s fair to say that his toast to the newlyweds and their 200 guests was probably quite awkward as he declared his love for her and said in his speech for his friend that she had to be his.

Desiree, 32, had been friends with best man Bryant White since high school and together with her ex-husband they formed a friendship trio.
But as Desiree stood there in her dress after vowing to spend the rest of her life with her new husband, Bryant scandalously declared during his best man’s speech that he “always loved her.” He even proclaimed that from the moment he met her, he knew “she had to be his” — while they sat next to him.
The mother-of-four was stunned by his comments and decided to sweep them under the rug, but just a year later, as she sat crying after their split, Bryant kissed her and passed on his worship one more time for her.
The couple then married in 2012 and have now given birth to four baby boys – as Desiree revealed, despite the “very big mess” she has overcome, she has never been happier.
She said: “Bryant and I met in class at high school friend at the time and because of that I really didn’t want to talk to other people.

“We were just friends and one day I brought a photo of my boyfriend. He said ‘Oh my god I know him – he’s on my lunch break’.
“I had spoken to my boyfriend about Bryant and said I love this kid in my class who is so funny.
“After that, I suggested we hang out. From then on we all became friends.
“Bryant and my ex-husband became best friends and because they were boys they did a lot together. They did everything together.”
The three students became best friends and Desiree claims she even put Bryant on dates over the years as he was unlucky in love – and claims she never had feelings for him.
“I’ve tricked Bryant so many times. I’ve double dated him and I always tell people I would never have dated the person he was,” Desiree recalls.
“He had a lot to do growing up. I didn’t really look at him that way.
“I married [a few years later]. Bryant was really drunk that day.
“On the wedding day, I walked into the living room just as I was getting ready, putting on my wedding dress and doing my hair. Bryant walked into my parents’ house and froze and stared at me.
“I said ‘Hey, what’s up?’. He said I look beautiful. I’ve never had a moment where he looked at me like that. I thought he would be nice because it was my wedding anniversary.”

Desiree opens up about how Bryant got really drunk at the wedding – before delivering his very candid best man speech.
“As he went upstairs he said, ‘I remember the first moment I saw Desiree, I loved her. i fell in love with her I knew she had to be mine. ever seen in my life’.
“He said, ‘She’s the best person I’ve ever met. I’ve never met anyone like her. Then I found out she already had a boyfriend and I thought I had to find a way to get her, but then I met [ex] and we became friends’.
“Then he just said, ‘I love you both – congratulations.’
“It ended there. I remember when it started my ears were ringing. I’m really an introvert. I was in front of all these people and I didn’t know what was going on.
“I don’t think I thought anything of it. I was in my own head. Everyone kind of laughed and then it got quiet.”
Later that night, Desiree and Bryant found themselves on the dance floor together, sharing a friendly dance and her husband’s best man asked why she never gave him “a chance.”
Desiree said: “I remember that night me and Bryant had one last dance before the wedding night was over. We danced with the best man and the best man.
“He said, ‘Why didn’t you ever give me a chance? I would have always taken care of you’. I asked him what he meant and he said, ‘Nothing. I love you I love you [your ex]’. Then he became quiet.
“I went upstairs and I remember sitting in my hotel room confused in my dress. I wondered if I misinterpreted the mood he was exuding and just didn’t talk about it again.
“I’m sure it was because he was really drunk and lonely. I knew up until that point that he had girlfriends who didn’t work and he was sort of the third wheel.”
Within a year, Desiree’s marriage fell apart and she divorced her ex-husband in 2011, with Bryant by her side to offer emotional support.
One day after the two met, Bryant kissed her before vowing to always be there for her.
Desiree said: “We were married less than a year. He lived a completely different lifestyle [to me].
“Bryant and I have remained friends the whole time. When we broke up and divorced, I went through a depression and was very withdrawn myself. I just didn’t want to try hard for anything.
“I remember my mom actually calling Bryant and saying I wasn’t eating or doing anything and that she was really worried.
“He asked me to have dinner with him or to hang out and watch a show. He tried to be there for me.
“Whenever me and my ex went through the divorce, I wanted to move out of the apartment but I couldn’t afford to leave, so we just stayed in separate rooms.
“I had to finish semester in this apartment with him, then Bryant and I kissed one day while we were together.
“It came out of nowhere. I didn’t stop when he kissed me, then I kissed him back. I was shocked that it was a good kiss. It felt good and natural.
“He looked up and smiled at me and I just said ‘You just kissed me.’ He smiled and asked if he could do it again.”
The couple then began their relationship and within a year, after a surprise, they had married pregnancy with their first son, Sawyer, now nine.
Desiree added, “I had just come out of this big situation and getting involved with Bryant felt really hard for me.
“He said, ‘I’ve always been in love with you – I’ll just be here’.
“After a while, after everything I’ve been through, I got so tired of thinking about everyone else’s feelings.
“Bryant made me happy. Although we never did anything and I never saw him [a romantic] By the way, there was so much chemistry between us.
“It wasn’t embarrassing at all. It was better. I haven’t had feelings that developed with anyone else the way I was with them.
“We ended up getting married. We talked about it but thought we should wait a bit. It was a very big mess so we thought it would be wise to wait.
“But then, well after a year of being together, I found out I was pregnant with our first baby. Then he asked me to marry him.
“He said, ‘I’ve always wanted to marry you and it’s not because of the baby, but let’s start this family the right way’.
“We’ve always been friends, but when we were together [romantically]it was like nothing was hard to do anymore, knowing that we had each other.
“We love being parents. Desiree, 20, wouldn’t believe she could be a mother of four.
“She couldn’t imagine that my life would be like this now.”
