“My mum signed me up to Love Island without being asked – she even pretended to be me”

Rylee Schindler was shocked when her mum told her she signed her up for Love Island without even asking – and even filled out the application by pretending to be her

Tonight marks the start of a new series of Love Island as a whole host of sexy singletons invade the mansion after successfully making it through the application process.

And while everyone who appeared on the show readily applied, one woman on TikTok has revealed that she had also signed up to take part — although she didn’t know until after she submitted her application.

Rylee Schindler of the US claimed her mother did in fact submit an application on her behalf, posing as her daughter throughout the process and filling out the questions as if she were the 19-year-old musician.

The woman said she never asked her mother for it, and also insisted her mother never approached her before submitting the application – except to suspiciously ask for her email address.

In her TikTok video, Rylee posts – who posts under the username @sugarplum_ry – shared the text she received from her mum, who spilled the beans when told to act natural if contacted by Love Island’s casting director.

First, at 7:40 a.m., Rylee received a text message that said, “Good morning you unicorn! What is your email address?”

Then, just three hours later at 10:40am, her mother sent another message saying: “If you get a call from a casting director at Love Island, I’ve submitted your application.

Rylee was shocked when her mother told her

She found out via text message

“One of the questions was, ‘What do you want to get out of your Love Island experience?’ and your answer should be found out so that you can continue your music career – if you happen to find your ‘person’ who would do that, that would be wonderful too .”

What’s more, Rylee’s mom even told producers that her daughter is bisexual and a virgin — and claimed she’s not ready to “date” anyone on TV.

She added, “Oh I’m saying you were bisexual and a virgin and not ready to just hook up.”

The screenshot of the text messages showed the beginning of Rylee’s reply, although no text was visible, so it’s unclear how the teen reacted to the message.

However, she wrote in her video, “When my mom accidentally signs me up to be on Love Island and mistakenly acts like me throughout the questionnaire without asking.”

Rylee’s video has garnered over 43,000 views since it was posted over the weekend and people in the comments have been let down by her mother’s actions.

One person said: “I love your mom, we need a mom reveal. She is so supportive and sweet.”

While another added: “Why did she have to tell them the virgin part?”

And a third wrote: “That’s what my mum would do. And she would be so proud of her creative support method.”

“Not that she’s outing you as a virgin, I’m screaming,” said another.
