The motorist began the post by saying: “We live on a terraced London street where parking is very tight.

“It’s not uncommon for us to have to park a street or further away.

“As we near the end of the terrace, the last few yards of the road in front of our house are marked with double yellow lines.

“We have some very strange neighbors a few houses down.

“The curtains are always drawn and when I saw them on the street, the father clutches his children’s heads, yells at them, etc., which may or may not be relevant.

The motorist revealed that his neighbors have an old and noisy car.

The drivers continue: “They have a really loud car anyway. The vignette is up to date, but I would be surprised if it got through the TÜV.”

“A headlight is broken and, more importantly, it makes more noise than a tractor when it’s started.

“They also have a disabled car badge, which means they have a designated, reserved parking space in front of their house.

“Each evening around 9pm the husband drives his car from outside their home to any vacant space outside our home or to a double yellow if none is vacant.

“I assume his blue badge means it’s not illegal.”

Shockingly they try to start the car at 5:30 or 6:00 every morning and sit there for at least 5 minutes.

The motorists continued: “The noise this car makes is freaking amazing.

“I can sleep outside with a garbage truck backing up, but this car wakes me and DH up every morning without fail.

“I spoke to my neighbors on both sides and they said the same thing.

“Obviously they know it bothers people, so they don’t start the car in front of their own house.

“I don’t know where they are going at this time but it’s not supposed to work as they’ll be back about 30 minutes later when the car is returned outside their place.

They ended the post by saying: “It’s been going on for a few months now and it’s starting to drive us insane.

“We both get annoyed at night when we hear the car pull up in front of our house because we know it will wake us up.

Other Mumsnet users all said the same thing in support of the original poster.

One said: “You could contact the noise people at Environmental Health.

“They will come out and monitor the noise and hit it with a message.”
