My neighbor is taking over our communal parking space and I have used it once in 8 months – what can I do?
A frustrated motorist has taken to social media to rant about his neighbors.
The problem is a shared parking lot that the motorist says his neighbor is hogging.

The motorist explained: “So we are the only two people in this apartment (it’s a duplex) and there is a garage for one car which we both pay for.
“First come first serve. It goes up a very narrow and steep driveway that turns a corner so you can’t really tell if someone is already in it until you drive up.
“I used it once in almost eight months (when she was out of town).”
The motorist reveals that the neighbor works from home and rarely leaves the house.
They continued, “He put her car back in the garage. I think I figured maybe she didn’t realize I had a car and if she sees I ‘give up’ the garage after a week she might do the same.
“Your car has been back in the garage for a month.”
Most Reddit users are on the motorist side in the comments.
One said, “Tell your neighbor if she plans to use the garage all the time; she’ll have to pay your half of the garage too.”
Another said: “Speak to the landlord and tell them you will not pay more for a garage that you will never be able to use.
“Plain and simple. He shouldn’t be charging you both for the garage if it only fits one car.”
