Neighbors can either be your best friends or people you never speak to – in some situations, they can also become your worst nightmare.
We recently heard of some neighbors taking advantage of neighbors who live close by, with one woman attempting to claim part of her neighbor’s yard and another recounting how her neighbor’s trampoline made her unhappy.
Now another woman has shared her own neighborly frustrations after the neighbor started coming into her garden to hang out her washing instead of using her own property.
writing in a post on Mumsnet, The anonymous woman explained that the two gardens are open plan but with two “well defined” gardens.

She explained that she encountered some problems as the weather got warmer and her neighbor’s children were playing on her side of the garden.
“Normally that wouldn’t bother me, but we both have WFH with our workspace at the back of the house, so it was a bit of a struggle, but we took it,” she said.
The woman continued to share the laundry issue, writing: “One morning I get up to hang a wash and see the neighbors washing on my drying green already using our drying green because their poles were broken and the previous owner didn’t mind had.
“I objected and told her. It didn’t stop and we ended up putting up a fence.”
However, it seems that the fence did little to solve the problem.
The woman claims that the children broke down the gate to the fence and while it was breaking down the woman came back into her garden and hung up her washing.
The fence has just been repaired but the neighbor has now drilled holes in it and put up clothes lines that stretch across the garden.
Now she wants to ask her neighbor to remove the screws as she didn’t ask to put them in, but she’s not sure if she’s being unreasonable.
“I realize I might be overreacting and it’s just a fence, but AIBU wanted to ask her to remove the screws since she didn’t ask to drill in? If she had asked, I probably would have said no because I’m not keen on the sustained weight pulling on the fence,” she adds.
More than 100 people responded to the woman’s post, with many agreeing that the woman had no right to grab the fence.
One person said: “You have no legal right to put anything on a fence that you own and that is entirely on your land. It’s your fence and you can ask them to remove the line from it.”
Another wrote: “Personally I wouldn’t unscrew it, I would cut the line.”
A third replied: “She’s incredibly rude. The clothesline is coming down right away.”
