A MOTORIST parked his SUV in his neighbor’s front yard and told him he would be picked up – over a year ago.
A furious Chris Shephard was told the eyesore Isuzu Trooper was due to be picked up by a new owner in Swindon, Wilts within days.
His neighbor died last spring and Chris was assured by his son that the car would only be there temporarily.
They assured him that the vehicle would be picked up by the new owner – but then disappeared without a trace.
Chris told that Swindon Advertiser: “After my neighbor died, they drove the car from the front of this house to mine.
“I went out for lunch on Sunday and it was in the garden when I came back.
“The son told me they had found a buyer who would come pick it up in a few days – but no one ever came.
“I haven’t heard from the owner since, and when I try to reach him through his relatives, they say they either don’t know where he is, don’t want to know, or don’t want to talk to me.”
The 29-year-old diesel SUV has fallen into disrepair over the past year, giving Chris a headache because he can’t move it.
Chris added: “It’s very annoying because it’s an ugly sight and it’s always in the way.
“It blocks access to my back garden, I can’t put my garbage cans there and I can’t mow the grass under the car.
“I have scaffolders who come to do work on the house and when they do there will be a problem for them.
“My old neighbor’s family emptied the Trooper of all the tools it had stored inside and locked it up. Now it’s just falling apart, the tires are flat and the body is rusted.
“It would cost a lot to fix, which is why the buyer may never have completed the purchase.
“I have several scrap dealers who have expressed an interest in this, but I need the vehicle’s papers to let them have it.
“The land is owned by the council so I’ve tried to get the council to move it but nothing has happened so far which is disappointing.”
A spokesman for Swindon Borough Council said: “We are aware of the car and are actively working with our tenant to have it removed as soon as possible.”
