After hairstylist Mykey O’Halloran was targeted for his rainbow house idea, more than a hundred people responded by helping him paint the colorful stripes on his new home

One man has shared how he endured horrific DEATH threats after deciding to paint his house rainbow colors – and the incredible community reaction he received afterwards.
Hairstylist Mykey O’Halloran, of Melbourne, Australia, bought his dream beachfront home last year – but was devastated when he didn’t get a welcome response from a neighbour.
He specializes in rainbow-hued designs and styles his hair to resemble tacos, cheeseburgers and fries – so of course he had to give his beige three-bedroom house a similar technicolor makeover.

But this is where the troubles started when he learned that some neighbors were not happy with his plans
said Mykey The sun on the internet : “About a month after I moved in, five men showed up in my back garden at around 10 p.m.
“They heard I was going to paint my house rainbow colors and they didn’t like it. They threatened to kill me and tried to beat me.”
“They got really aggressive and violent and homophobic,” he continued. “They called me a ‘gay c***’ and said, ‘If you paint this house, see what happens, because next time it won’t be as pretty’.”
His neighbor said to him, “If you bloody well draw that house rainbow, I’ll come back and kill you.”
After the sickening threats, Mykey called the police – and the man who was charged with wrongful assault and death threats.
In July 2021 he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of wrongful assault and was fined just AUD 2,500 (£1,418).
But Mykey was blown away by the “incredible” response from the community after sharing details of the incident on social media.
“I cried myself to sleep last night after feeling so assaulted, homophobic and threatened in my own home,” he wrote.
He added that he would not allow anyone to force him out of his new home and that he would go ahead with his plan to paint the house rainbow stripes.
Hundreds of people who read his post agreed and agreed to help him paint – while Dulux donated 40 liters of paint.
“For every Pied Piper like him, the island has a thousand others to welcome you,” wrote a neighbor.
“You paint your house the colors you want! I’m so sorry this happened to you!” commented a woman from the US.
More than a hundred people gathered to paint the exterior in blue, green, yellow, orange, purple and pink stripes. Another kind volunteer installed eight cameras in case he faced further threats.
Regarding the incident, Mykey added: “I know in my heart that I am a good person and I deserve inclusion and acceptance for how I choose to live my life.
“My message now is, don’t let anyone get in your way and always be true to yourself.”
