Sincerely: After an argument over a puppy, my sister’s husband shunned me and blocked me on Facebook.
I have a puppy at Christmas 2020 with my partner. My sister and her husband were over and all was well until the puppy started chewing on the Christmas tree baubles.

The puppy looked startled when my brother-in-law started screaming and waving. I said, “Stop! You will only encourage him. “
He looked annoyed, so I apologize for snapping. But both of them got angry and left. He’s always in control.
The next day, my sister called me to say that I had hurt his feelings. Now he says I accused him of hitting the puppy, which I didn’t.

Things went from bad to worse. My sister has become cynical.
I haven’t talked to her in over a year. It was a trivial thing but she said things had gone too far and I was to blame.
DEIDRE SAYS: Your sister is in the middle and for a quiet life may feel she has no choice but to be with her husband – someone who can’t take any criticism.
If he is controlling, she may be afraid to turn against him. It’s easier to blame yourself than to admit this about your husband.
