A small child with incredible Afro curls, she amazes people everywhere she goes with her beautiful hair that draws compliments and questions from curious passers-by alike.

Little Tuzolana Benigno, who turned two last month, was born with a full head Hair. However, it didn’t come as a huge surprise to her mother, Courtney Smith.

After experiencing the story of the old wives of Schwere heartburn everything in her pregnancyCourtney, who lives in Cornwall, was even able to spot Tuzolana’s thick, dark hair during her 20-week scan.

However, midwives were shocked by the abundance of dark, straight black hair Tuzolana had at birth, and her parents never expected her to have so much at such a young age.

Tuzolana’s long hair means Courtney has had to do a lot of research to ensure it is properly cared for.

Courtney, 32, said: “I’ve done a lot of research on forums and I’ve learned about the curly girl method and natural moisture retention products.

“I use a very small amount of shampoo to clarify her hair, probably once a month, and wash with conditioner the rest of the time.

“We use homemade masks for deep treatment and also like to use raw aloe vera, avocado and unrefined olive oil. I use a leave-in conditioner and comb with my fingers or a wide-toothed comb.”

“Tuzolana has moderate eczema at the back of her head and a lot of it fell out around six months old, so we put satin sheets on her bed to prevent rubbing from damaging her hair.”

The family has yet to arrange for the tot to have her first haircut and her proud parents are currently searching for a stylist with the confidence and experience needed to cater to their daughter’s hair type.

Tuzolana’s father, Daniel Benigno, 45, was born in Angola, Africa and credits her luscious locks to his side of the family. However, Courtney was also born with a lot of dark hair, with the little girl coming after both parents.

Courtney loves that so many people are interested in her daughter’s curly hair, and doesn’t mind that wherever the family goes, they end up being held up.

She said: “A lot of strangers stop and comment on their hair and I’m pleased that people are taking a positive interest.

“Everywhere we go, I get stopped and asked a lot about hair care. People always ask if their hair is difficult to manage or how I care for it.

“People seem really interested and I want Tuzolana to grow up understanding that her natural hair is beautiful and that she feels empowered by her dual heritage.”

David and Courtney have already signed Tuzolana to a modeling agency who saw her model for clothing brand Frugi.

Courtney added, “I signed her to an agency just for fun and for the experience. We had no expectations, but we wondered what opportunities might arise, especially given that she has so much curly hair at her young age.”
