Nadine Dorries urges Liz Truss to ‘hold a general election’

Mrs Dorries was Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in Boris Johnson’s government.

She was critical Mrs. Truss Stop policies approved by the cabinet before they came to power.

This referred to the possible sale of Channel 4a review of the BBC license fee and the implementation of an online safety law.

In a tweet, Ms Dorries said: “Widespread dismay that 3 years of work has effectively been put on hold. Nobody asked for it. C4 saleOnline Safety, BBC License Fee [sic] Verification – everything signed off from the cabinet, everything ready to start, everything stopped. if lic want a whole new mandate, have to bring them to the country.”

She responded to a tweet from the Daily Mirror’s online deputy political editor, Lizzy Buchan, who had spoken about what Conservative Party 2019 manifesto author Rachel Wolf had said Liz Truss‘s lead so far.

Her tweet read: “Co-author of the 2019 Tory Manifesto Rachel Wolf says Liz Truss won the leadership race partly because of perceived loyalty to Boris Johnson – but this government has now scrapped everything he did for stood democratic or parliamentary mandate.”

Mrs. Truss Already a month into her tenure as prime minister, she is facing a lot of criticism, particularly over last week’s mini-budget, which sent interest rates on loans soaring.

Ms Dorries had also criticized Ms Truss yesterdayaccused her of throwing Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng “under the bus,” saying the decision to cut income taxes for the wealthiest was one he made alone and not the Cabinet as a whole.
