Naruto battle changed the history of animation

Just as important to these three episodes as Wakabayashi is animator Norio Matsumoto. Matsumoto is one of the The most influential action animation there, a master at conveying impactful motion through extreme stretch marks and stains. In Matsumoto, Wakabayashi has a talented ally, agile and willing to push the boundaries of TV action anime as far as he can. In Wakabayashi, Matsumoto has a collaborator who can play to his strengths in storyboard directly, while giving him the creative freedom he needs to excel. Matsumoto personally created all of the important animations for the first half of episode 30, including the fight between Sasuke and Orochimaru. Especially Norio Matsumoto’s animation, with his sheer speed, character and thoroughness, inspired Shingo Yamashita to become an animator.

Yamashita isn’t the only young animator impressed by Matsumoto. A new generation of artists has grown up on the Internet, exchanging their work on websites and forums. Their movement will be called webgen, “web generation”. Many of them initially lacked the formal training and expertise of their predecessors. But sooner or later, ambitious directors began to recruit them, using their talents to push the medium forward. Norio Matsumoto himself has become a champion of the movement, mentoring many young animators who have become future motivators and transformatives. One of these animators was Shingo Yamashita, who rapidly progressed under the guidance of Matsumoto.
