Nasa Spots ‘Shiny Metal Foil’ On Mars In Weird Photo – Can You Solve The Mystery?

NASA has stumbled across an ‘unexpected’ shiny object on Mars.

The space agency’s Perseverance rover spotted the metal foil-like object during a routine walk.

But before you start speculating about aliens, the truth behind them is much closer to home.

It turns out that the material came from Nasa.

Experts revealed the “surprising” find on Twitter, saying it appears to be a piece of a thermal blanket.

They believe this may have been the case when Perseverance descended to the red planet in 2021.

More specifically, it may have come from the rocket-powered jetpack.

When enlarging the image, tiny dots appear, which are normal for a thermal blanket.

Speak with CNETa NASA representative said they were sure it was part of a thermal blanket but were less sure which part of the spacecraft it was.

“What’s less clear is which part of the spacecraft it came from – the team thinks the descent phase is a good possibility – or how exactly it got here,” explained Andrew Good of Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

“The descent stage crashed two kilometers away; whether it ended up here after that crash or was blown away by the wind we don’t know.”

But not everyone was impressed by the discovery.

Some commented on the fact that Nasa is essentially trashing Mars.

“No people there yet and we’ve already left rubbish behind,” said one.

“We, the people, successfully dumped our trash out there before we even put our feet down,” complained another.
