Natalie Imbruglia has shared her sadness at the cancellation of Neighbors after 37 years on the air – when the show launched its own career back in 1992.
The 47-year-old Australian actress and singer played Beth Brennan for over two years on the legendary soap opera, which ran for 252 episodes between 1992 and 1994.
She’s starred in other shows, including Law of the Land and films like Johnny English and Underdogs – while she’s had other successes as a singer, narrating hits like Torn and Wishing I Was There.
Last week, the soap world was rocked with the news that legendary tea-time drama Neighbors is set to come to an end after 37 years after Channel 5 stopped funding the series and the show failed to find a new network to pick it up.

And it seems Natalie herself is distraught over the update – eh She told The Sun on Sunday: “It’s just so sad — I loved that show.”
Last month, as rumors swirled that the ax would fall on the iconic soap, Natalie opened up about whether or not she would return to Ramsay Street as some sort of special tribute.
She told the Mirror: “I would consider it, yes.

“I would consider going back, I think it would be nice to go through those doors. I mean, I probably won’t recognize anyone – not even mine [on screen] Son.”
Natalie’s character Beth had a romance with Brad Willis, played by Scott Michaelson, and they shared a son named Ned, played by Ben Hall.
And speaking to Heart FM last month about her on-screen son, Natalie said she had hopes another network would help fund the show to keep it on the air after Britain’s Channel 5 pulled out have.
She said: “I think at that point we just thought it was going to go on forever, so, you know, people are petitioning. We hope they make it.
“There is a character on the show that is my son! I mean, I think it would be devastating. What will happen to my son?”
Unfortunately, however, the petitions fell on deaf ears and last Thursday it was confirmed that the show will end for good later this year.
Confirming the end of the show, Fremantle wrote in a statement: “Despite an extensive search for alternative funding options, we simply have no choice but to pause the show.
“We know this is a huge disappointment for our amazing, loyal fans, as well as for all of us on the team.

“We thank you for all of your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From now on we celebrate Neighbors.”
Neighbors first aired in March 1985 and helped launch the careers of a number of high profile stars including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce.
