Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe makes pizza with her daughter as she settles back in the UK

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has settled back in the UK and been spending time with her daughter Gabriella.

he British-Iranian charity worker, 43, who was freed from custody in Iran earlier this week, spent Friday afternoon making pizza with the seven-year-old.

Labour’s Tulip Siddiq, the MP for Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe who campaigned for her release, said the pair cherished their time together after the split.

She said: “Nazanin has told me that’s what she missed most while she was incarcerated – moments every day with her little girl.

“Today Gabriella had a choice of making homemade pizzas for lunch.”

It comes after Channel 4 announced it will air a documentary about Richard Ratcliffe’s campaign for his wife’s release over the past six years.

The single-episode documentary, called Nazanin, follows the life of Mr Ratcliffe as he balances a political campaign with raising Gabriella.

The broadcaster said it includes how the youngster coped with the split from her mother and the moment Mr Ratcliffe realized her imprisonment was linked to a £400million debt dating back to the 1970s.

It also follows the final days of negotiations with the UK Foreign Office in Tehran and Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s journey home.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “Nazanin is an intimate, accessible documentary – part love story, part political thriller. It has a human story with a big heart, mixing original observational films with never-before-seen footage filmed by Nazanin herself of her ordeal.”

Nazanin will air later this year. It was filmed and directed by Darius Bazargan, executive produced by Ben de Pear and commissioned by Nevine Mabro.

Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe landed back on British soil alongside her compatriot Anoosheh Ashoori in the early hours of Thursday after Britain finally agreed to pay off its debt to Iran.

The 43-year-old was arrested by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard at Imam Khomeini Airport on security charges in 2016 after she introduced her daughter to her parents in Iran.

She was accused of plotting to overthrow the Iranian government.

Mr Ashoori, 67, was arrested in August 2017 while visiting his elderly mother in Tehran. He was held in Evin prison for nearly five years on charges of espionage.

Both have consistently and vigorously denied the allegations.

Her release came after months of intense diplomatic negotiations between London and Tehran.
