Neil Gaiman added a nice angel to Good Omens season 2 because most angels are ‘bastards’ [NYCC]

“Good Omens” season 2 will see some swapping of the old cast into new roles. Nina Sosanya is returning, though not as Mary Loquacious but as Nina, the owner of the Give Me Coffee or Give Me Death coffee shop. Likewise, Maggie Service is no longer Sister Theresa Garrulous but is now Maggie, a record store owner. That’s right: they both play characters who share their names, so it can be clear to Neil Gaiman that those actresses are meant for those roles.

Gaiman longs to bring back Miranda Richardson, but Madame Tracy’s arc is over. “So I just wrote a new season for Miranda Richardson. She’s basically the demon sent to Earth to replace Crowley. Her name is Shax.”

Unfortunately, they had to say goodbye to Anna Martin as Beelzebub. “We also have one actor replacing another, this is done because [Martin] Gaiman explained that Shelley Conn was Beelzebub’s replacement, and added, “Our CGI guys spent most of their time animating her flies.”

Finally, Gaiman teased: “I would say that there are some love stories in [season 2]. We’ll learn a lot about Jane Austen that you didn’t know before.”
