Netflix fans are being blocked from getting a cheaper membership on millions of devices – are you missing out?

If you’re hoping to save a little money with Netflix’s new cheaper subscription plan, the first thing you should do is check the device you’re using.
It turns out that the Basic tier doesn’t work with ads from the streaming giant on some popular products.
Older Google Chromecast kits don’t support it – only the latest Chromecast with Google TV model does.
And Apple TV owners aren’t out of luck either – at least for now, eh 9to5Mac Claims support will be coming soon.
Perhaps less surprisingly, PlayStation 3 doesn’t have access to it either.
It’s not clear why these devices can’t handle the new subscription, but likely has something to do with how ads are served.

Ads are the biggest big change, allowing people to access Netflix for a new low price of £4.99 / $6.99.
The company says it runs about four minutes of advertising every hour.
In fact, recent testing by The Sun found that the ads aren’t all that common.
But there are other limitations for Basic with Ads, such as: B. Fewer shows and movies available.
From comedy classics like Happy Gilmore and Bean’s Holiday to hit US series Suits and House of Cards, everything is locked.
Netflix warned at launch that some content might not be viewable on the Basic with Ads plan due to “license restrictions.”
The company tends to hide locked titles on their main screen unless one is in the top ten.
People are more likely to get a nasty surprise when they’re looking for something — especially if they’ve downgraded from a different subscription tier and know that title is on Netflix.

That means users are missing out on the current top ten hits Minions and More 2, Sing, and Motherland.
Another big difference is that you only get a maximum video quality of 720p and you can only use the account to watch one screen at a time.
