Netflix goes CHEAPER with Virgin Media’s new streaming TV box

VIRGIN Media has launched a brand new streaming TV box that can effectively help people save money on their Netflix bill.

People who have the telco giant’s broadband can use the new Stream box to get ten percent credit on any streaming services they add to their account.

The product costs £35 upfront and has no long-term contracts since Virgo tries to compete with Sky Glass.

Customers can subscribe and unsubscribe to a wide range of popular content in one place, including Disney+ – launching on Virgin for the first time – Sky Sports and BT Sport.

The cute plug and play box brings subscriptions and traditional free live TV channels under one roof without the need for lots of wires or drilling.

In addition to a voice-activated controller, the device allows people to turn their older TVs into smarter ones with an HDMI cable.

Other apps available include Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Starzplay, BritBox and YouTube.

Virgin Media O2 Chief TV and Entertainment Officer David Bouchier told The Sun that the timing couldn’t be better amid a cost of living crisis.

“If you ask people, they don’t really know who’s paying what and how much they’re paying — seeing everything in one place and getting value for money is key,” he said.

The product is designed as a complementary service to traditional set-top boxes – although the company hopes to attract new generations who prefer streamed subscriptions.

“We serve a different group, a group that in the past either didn’t choose pay TV, chose paid video, or maybe left us to just use the subscription services.”

There’s a small catch though: you can only use Stream if you have Virgin Media’s broadband.

The ten percent credit applies to all subscriptions together, not a ten percent discount each.

It also does not apply if you have ongoing offers.
