Netflix set to make big changes – fans are furious and threatening to quit for good

NETFLIX fans are threatening to quit the streaming giant for good after hearing about tough new rules.
Subscribers can be expected to watch something from their “main location” at least every 31 days to prove that it’s not someone living outside their household using the account.
Otherwise your device will be locked.
It comes as the Stranger Things hitmaker prepares to introduce a long-awaited ban on sharing passwords with anyone outside your home.
“First time one of my devices gets improperly blocked and you make me jump through extra hoops @netflix, I’m out,” one user wrote.
“As soon as I’m uncomfortable accessing the service remotely, or due to a device limit in my house, I’ll likely be canceling,” said another.
“I will be canceling my account soon,” threatened a third.
“It’s ridiculous that my daughter can’t use the family account in college.”
The now-removed page states that on each device, you must “connect to Wi-Fi in your primary location, open the Netflix app or website, and watch at least once every 31 days.”
By recognizing things like IP address, Netflix can figure out whether the device connected to the service is part of that household or not.
So any non-resident friends or family using your account could be turned away as early as March.
After the rules became widespread, Netflix pulled the page from its website.
Speak with The edgethe company said it has not yet confirmed how it will stop sharing passwords.
A spokesperson told the publication: “As you may recall, we launched Extra Members in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru back in March. But the US (and other countries) don’t have it…
“The only thing we’ve confirmed so far is that in our Jan. 19 results, we expect ‘later in the first quarter’ to roll out paid sharing more broadly.”
