The dramatized show, which retells tales of Britain’s royal family, has previously sparked some controversy among fans of the monarchy by detailing scandals and rumors affecting the palace.
The new series is set to be no different, with the expectation that storylines will follow the now historic interview between the BBC’s Diana and Martin Bashir.
Another topic to be tackled The crownbecomes the now infamous “Tampongate,” a phone conversation between the then Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles.
What is Tampongate on The Crown?
The phone call between the king and queen took place in 1989 and was later passed on to the press.
The lewd phone call made national headlines as people around the world were shocked to read about the phone call’s subject matter.
Just three months after Charles and Diana officially split in 1993, the full transcript of the phone call was printed in the press.
A full audio recording also accompanied it, after a couple of renegade radio enthusiasts found the chat with a high-tech scanner.
The call only lasted six minutes and at the time the two were married to other people as they discussed being intimate with each other.
But what was most shocking and controversial of the lineage came from the current king, when he described his desire to be reincarnated as Camilia’s tampon.

What did Charles and Camilla say during the Tampongate call?
During the call, the two begin to discuss their longing for each other, with Charles saying, “What about me? The problem is that I need you several times a week.”
To which Camilia replies, “Mmmm, me too. i need you all week The whole time.”
As the conversation grows, Charles says, “Oh, God. I just live in your pants or something. It would be a lot easier!”
When asked what Charles was thinking, Camilia asks, “(laughs) What are you going to make out of them, panties? (both laugh). Oh, you’ll come back in knickers.”
However, it seems Charles may have had a different saying: “Or, God forbid, a tampax.” Just my luck! (laughs)”
“You’re a complete idiot! (laughs) Oh, what a wonderful idea.” Camilia replies before Charles adds, “Lucky me I get thrown in the toilet and keep spinning up and never coming down.”
The conversation continues as the two discuss their personal thoughts.
