Cleveland Abduction: Lifetime Crime Movie Trailer

True crime drama Cleveland Abduction airing on Netflix has people talking about how ‘disturbing’ it is.

Based on the Ariel Castro kidnapping, the crime drama stars Taryn Manning, Raymond Cruz, and Joe Morton and is an adaptation of Michelle Knight’s memoir, Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness, a Life Reclaimed.

Originally released as a TV series in 2015, Cleveland Abduction has reached a whole new audience since landing on Netflix and has new viewers nervous.

The film tells the story of Michelle Knight, the first of three victims imprisoned by Ariel Castro at her home in Cleveland, Ohio in the early 00s.

Michelle – played by Taryn Manning – went missing on August 23, 2002 after leaving a cousin’s home.

She was detained at Castro’s home, eventually with two other women, and subjected to sexual and physical abuse.

Taryn, who has appeared in hits like Orange is the New Black, admitted she felt “anxious” before taking on the big role in 2015.

When asked by Marie Claire if she felt uncomfortable entering such a horrible world, she replied, “Yes. I don’t think I have ever been so nervous or stressed in my acting career.

But it’s another kind of nerve that I can’t really articulate. “

Seven years on from its original release, Cleveland Abduction has terrified a whole new audience with the terrifying true story behind the film.

“The Cleveland abduction was one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen. There are some sick weirdos in this world,” one viewer told the muse, while another added: Watch Cleveland Kidnap and I’m super nervous right now.”

A third added: “But the thought of it actually being a true story disgusts me so much that I can’t even imagine how painful it must have been for those girls. ..”

After creating a buzz online, in recent days, many people in the UK have logged into Netflix hoping to watch the ‘disturbing’ crime drama, but they have been disappointed.

One fan took to Twitter this week to ponder: “Why isn’t #clevelandabduction on my #netflix?”

Another person directly tweeted about the streaming giant: “Why are you guys lying about the Cleveland Kidnapping? It’s not even there.”

A third begged: “Will @NetflixUK show Cleveland Abduction on UK Netflix? I’m reading a lot about this and need to see it.”

For those with VPNs or in countries where the movie is available in their subscription, Netflix’s synopsis for the movie reads: “Kidnapped and jailed, Michelle Knight finds the will to live survive the most horrifying and heartbreaking circumstances in this true crime drama.”

Michelle was just 21 years old at the time of the abduction and was scheduled to appear in court for her son’s custody case before being abducted by Castro.

He went on to kidnap Amanda Berry, then 17, in April 2003 and his final victim the following year, 14-year-old Gina DeJesus.

During her captivity, Amanda gave birth to Castro’s child.
