Netflix’s hit drama about the British monarchy under the rule of the late Queen Elizabeth II hitting our screens today
The long awaited Season 5 of The Crown covers Britain in the 1990s and follows the marriage and divorce of then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
The series will dramatize the infamous Panorama interview with Diana, Princess of Wales in a four minute 23 second segment.
An investigation last year found the BBC covered up “fraudulent conduct” used by journalist Martin Bashir to secure his world headline exclusivity.
A Netflix spokeswoman said: “The Crown season five will dramatize the events surrounding the Panorama interview, given the pivotal role it played during the time period the series covers.
“It will reflect what we now know about how the interview came about and how Diana was treated.
“The interview is not fully re-enacted.”

Following the request, the BBC wrote to the Royal Family to apologize for the circumstances of the interview – in which Diana said: “Well, there were three of us in this marriage so it was a bit crowded,” a reference to Camilla Parker Bowles – whom Charles later married.
2021, Prince William issued a statement He slammed the BBC for its mistakes over his mother’s Panorama interview, in which he says it exacerbated “anxiety, paranoia and isolation”.
William said he was left with “undescribable sadness” when he learned the company’s failings had “significantly” contributed to Diana, Princess of Wales’ state of mind in the final years of her life.
“She was let down not only by a rogue reporter but also by BBC executives who looked the other way instead of asking the tough questions,” he said.
The Duke of Sussex said of his mother in a separate statement: “The ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately took her life.”
