Netflix’s The Witcher has announced that production has begun on the third season of the series.
In the series, Superman actor Henry Cavill will reprise his starring role as Geralt of Rivia, a traveling monster hunter hired in the fantasy series.
Cavill will also star alongside Anya Chalotra, who returns as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla of Cintra.
The hit series announced the news with a behind-the-scenes look from day one of production, in which the actors sit in chairs overlooking a snowy glade with a forest in the background.
It also teased the upcoming season’s plot, saying, “While monarchs, mages and beasts of the continent compete to capture her, Geralt goes into hiding with Ciri of Cintra, determined to protect his newly united family from those who threaten destruction it.
Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer is leading her to the sheltered fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to learn more about the girl’s untapped powers. Instead, they discover they have landed on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal.
“You have to fight back, risk everything – or risk losing yourself forever.”
The show first aired in December 2019 and is based on the books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

According to various reports, The Witcher was a Netflix success story, being viewed by around 76 million households in the first four weeks it aired on the streaming service.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will serve as showrunner for the series, while Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub and Jaroslaw Sawko will serve as executive producers.
