Never click on the dangerous new iPhone pop-up – it will trick hackers into targeting you

INSTAGRAM users are warned to avoid a scam that has been sweeping the platform for several months.

Latest Instagram scam making the rounds

Users are randomly tagged in flashy posts that claim they got lucky.

But in reality it is just another shady scam.

Bad actors piggyback on the increase in contests and giveaways happening on Instagram.

The messages say something along the lines of, “Congratulations! You won an iPhone 13.”

Even more worrying is the fake link that perpetrators point people to to claim their prize.

Opening these websites risks exposing sensitive personal information — and certainly not an iPhone 13 to show for it.

As always, if something looks too good to be true, it probably isn’t.

Especially if you’ve been tagged in something you haven’t even participated in, similar to those iPhone price posts.

Users have complained to Twitter about the issue.

“Can’t Instagram block them already?” said one.

“They all use the same spam label.”

Another joked, “If I win one more free iPhone on Instagram, I can open a whole frigging Apple Store.”
