New Chaser announces replacement of Anne ‘the Governess’ Hegerty for Beat The Chaser

A brand new Chaser has joined the Beat The Chasers team after Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty dropped out of the series. The new star was greeted by his fellow Chasers after being flown in from Australia.

The Chase: Contestant beat Anne Hegerty in the first round

Beat The Chasers welcomed a new Chaser to the show in the form of Issa ‘The Supernerd’ Schultz – when Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty was forced to leave the series.

The 38-year-old Brainbox was a major Chaser on the Australian version of The Chase – and UK audiences will now know him as he joins the main cast of Beat The Chasers.

The dark-haired Aussie will be a force to be reckoned with as he is an eight-time Australian Quiz Championship winner – championship awards in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021.

He has even won major awards on other shows including Rich List and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Issa was welcomed to the panel by fellow Chasers Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis and Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace .

Shaun took to social media to congratulate Issa on her new role, writing: “Super Nerd is amazing! Issa is delighted to be working with you again. I hope it happens sooner rather than later. so late.”

Issa replied: “It is wonderful to sit beside you, sir!

Issa, nicknamed The Supernerd, was one of the pursuers on The Chase Australia



Viewers flocked to comment on the post, with one fan writing: “Issa and Shaun on the same team. I’m so excited, I just can’t cope.”

One second wrote: “Thank you so much Shaun for taking care of @Issa25 for us!”

While a third asked: “Where is Anne?”

Indeed, Anne herself took to social media to explain that she would be saddened to be absent from the film.

She wrote on Twitter: “Unfortunately, I have contracted Covid-19 so will not be filming this #BeatTheChasers series.

“The amazing @ Issa25 will follow in my footsteps and I’m looking forward to seeing the drama when it airs later this year. I feel fine, but I’m still optimistic! (In every way)”.

However, Anne has signaled that she has recovered from her Covid diagnosis.

On Saturday, she shared a photo of a side-flow test on Twitter showing that she is currently testing negative for the virus.

She added a caption to her photo, tweeting: “#thechase #beatthechasers #l Free Liturgy #butstillselfisolating.”

Anne is one of the longest-serving members of The Chase, having been on the show since 2010 and appearing in hundreds of episodes.

Beat The Chasers has been broadcast since April 2020



The series begins in June 2009 when Mark and Shaun are the only two high IQ stars the contestants will be competing against.

The Beat The Chasers spin-off started airing in April 2020, and the current series is the fifth season filmed to date.
