A funny story surrounding the recently released movie Dares of Eternity active in Fate 2 appeared recently. First reported by Forbes, it seems like new players entering Destiny 2 for the first time are being pushed into the mode as soon as they start playing the game, when they’re horribly underfunded and have absolutely no idea what’s going on.
Here’s how it all works. As soon as Dares of Eternity was released with the Bungie 30 Anniversary update, players were immediately lined up by Xur to join the Dares of Eternity session. No matter what you’re doing or how much you’ve played Destiny 2, you’re bound to be introduced to new content.
While we can only assume this has been done so any confusion about how to access said content and the loot the player wanted to get their hands on has been eliminated, it has created out an unfortunate situation for those who naively launch the game for the first time. You see, Dares of Eternity has a minimum power level of 1150, while new players are only at 1100.
As you might expect, this means that enemies the player is forced to face are devastated as soon as they enter the action. While you can leave Dares of Eternity by going back to orbit, it seems like the initial experience is engaging that new players don’t expect. Also, figuring out how to do that can take a while for players who are just starting out in the game, so it’s not exactly a perfect workaround.
As Forbes writer Paul Tassi pointed out, this also affects players who have taken a long time to return to Destiny 2 after a while of not touching it, as their gear will also be at 1100. Must be a great welcome gift, right?
In a game that has come to disappoint as having a difficult experience for new players, largely due to much of Destiny 2’s original content including the original Red War campaign, this is certainly not what you hope to see . Also, with the Witch Queen expansion underway, let’s hope that those looking to prepare ahead of launch won’t be discouraged from playing.
She has a good-natured shoulder. According to a Reddit thread detailing the issue, the team is aware of this bug. We can only hope that this means it gets fixed quickly, before more potential defenders face this rough start.
