New study links 5 stillbirths and 2 infant deaths with Delta variant in unvaccinated mothers

FIVE stillbirths and two infant deaths have been linked to the impact of the Delta variant on unvaccinated mothers.
Word study cork The University Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology revealed that the deaths, which took place late last year, were found to be related to the Delta variant.

Updated advice is reported to advise pregnant women to pay special attention to fetal movements if they have Covid.
‘REAL Complaint’
There are no clinical data on the effects of Omicron in women yet.
Last year, several studies linked stillbirth to the Alpha variant of the coronavirus.
The unpublished findings are from a team based at University College Cork Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital led by professor Keelin O’Donoghue.

O’Donoghue told the Irish Examiner: “It’s important to say that this is an uncommon but real complication of Covid-19 in pregnancy.
“So far, across our cases and internationally, affected pregnancies have not been vaccinated, which makes for a strong argument for vaccination during pregnancy.
“We hope that by providing clear information and through closer monitoring of pregnancies affected by Covid-19, we can avoid future deaths.”
Last March, it was announced that four stillbirths can be linked to Covid by medical directors.
