New World details the Blunderbuss, from all abilities to upgrades

with New worldThe next update of is in the pipeline, the team has been discussing community feedback and recently even released a seasonal roadmap. The next update brings a brand new weapon, the Blunderbuss, and now there’s a new rundown of what to expect from the weapon, including details on the trees, abilities, and possible upgrades.

The Blunderbuss is a ranged weapon designed to offer some flexibility. It’s designed for mobility and will scale with strength and intelligence, giving it an edge over mages or even thugs who want to use it and dominate the trees. The two trees for the Blunderbuss are Chaos and Containment. Chaos focuses on keeping distance between you and the enemy, using a series of explosive AoE attacks to let loose. Containment enables you to get in close, unleash attacks, and get out of there.

Choosing containment gives you access to Web Shot, which allows you to launch a huge web at your enemies, dealing 40% weapon damage and a 40% 2 second slow. If you move backwards while firing, the recoil will push you further back, meaning this could put you out of harm’s way if you land a fatal shot. If you move sideways or forward, you will continue to move forward. Claw Shot lets you shoot a large, chained claw at enemies that deals damage and inflicts a short root. Azoth Shrapnel Blast lets you fire five damaging bullets forward in a fan that also pushes you backwards.

Chaos, on the other hand, is all about staying out, shooting, and getting out. Or even keep others away. Splitting Grenade lets you fire a grenade that ricochets up to four times. You can light it at any time. If you do, it will split into three mini grenades that deal area damage. Mortar Charge uses heavy canisters to fire up to 3 canister shots that explode in a 3m area for 100% weapon damage, and even more damage when the target is far away. Blast Shot fires wine directly in front of you, dealing 70% weapon damage.

Each of the skills in both trees has potential upgrades that apply to both specific skills and overall. Some of these reduce cooldowns, increase damage, or expand your chambers.
