New World May Dev Update Dive into 3v3 PvP, new mutators, new story and What’s Ahead

It’s May and New worldThe latest monthly developer update video from is here. This time around, the team is diving into 3v3 PvP arenas, upcoming mutators coming to The Depths, continuing Varangian Knights story content, and some of what we can expect in June.

The developers are starting with 3v3 PvP arenas, which is one of the ways that Amazon is providing for players to be able to find PvP challenges on their servers without having to have them in full. Maybe you don’t have time at a certain hour or even insufficient server population for more. Well, line up alone, in pairs, or in a full team of three and get ready.

Players who queue with fewer than three players will be matched within level bands tied to the highest level player (so don’t be level 25 and queue with someone in your party with level 60 if you want a chance). The PvP rewards path accompanies this, which allows you to earn XP and the new PvP currency, Salt, and it’s all part of Amazon Games’ promise to show some love for PvP.

The depths will get mutators that will go through. Overgrown that focuses on nature damage and resistances. Barbaric focuses on physical damage. The final, a new curse, Fiendish will “focus on the nocturnal” (said with a vampire accent). The team emphasizes the potential of mutators as challenges and content that players enjoy strategizing with.

It’s not just continuous player challenges as there will be more of the Varangian Knights storyline with the upcoming Episode 2 quest chain. Expect quests with three new POIs and four new enemy types, of which the developers promise some of the most advanced enemy AI.

In June, New world will not have a major content update, but there will be updates, fixes, and community events. This includes the XP Extravaganza, which offers opportunities for advancement and maybe even a good chance to create some new alternates.
