Former Albion defender Dan Burn is looking forward to seeing his old fans again when he returns to Amex this weekend.
The towering defender left Albion to join his youth club Newcastle in January and could play a key role in helping the team avoid relegation and climb the Premier League table.
Burn has admitted he didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to Albion fans but is excited at the prospect of seeing everyone again.
He told Chronicle Live: “I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be weird, but I’m looking forward to it as I didn’t get a chance to say a proper goodbye to the fans.
“I didn’t see a lot of the staff either because it happened so quickly. It’s going to be a tough game and we know we’ve only won one game, so we have to go on and put in another performance.”
The 30-year-old believes he will always be indebted to the club for giving him the opportunity to play at the highest level in English football.
Burn said: “Huge (in debt). They took the chance to get me into the Premier League back then. All the staff and the manager there, I wouldn’t be where I am without them. So it will be nice to go back and see people.”
The defender is ready to be on the opposing side when he and his Newcastle team-mates visit the Amex but knows it will be a tough game.
He said: “It’s always difficult in Brighton. They are very good and showed that last season and by beating Man United last Sunday.
“We’ll prepare as well as we did for Forest and I’m sure we’ll have a game plan.”
