Newcastle United need a couple of wins to secure their Premier League status when Wolves next visit St James’ Park. The Geordies are getting more money to spend on the backbone of Eddie Howe’s team over the summer and will refocus after a defensive setback

Newcastle United are set to miss out on top summer transfer target Sven Botman – but are planning another spending spree.

AC Milan are nevertheless finalizing a deal to sign the centre-back from Holland and Lille newcastle ‘s long-running pursuit. The Saudi-funded club are ready to spend big again in the summer after his £94million spree to help Eddie Howe avoid relegation.

Botman, 22, was top of their list after receiving encouragement to join the rebuilding team at the St. But Milan are ready to land the £40million-rated star and have a five-year deal worth £20million agreed on wages, with Newcastle looking elsewhere for a centre-back.

Club director and partner Amanda Staveley has been meeting with her Saudi investors over the past few weeks to finalize plans for the club in the summer should they remain at the club as expected First League. Howe has a crush on Lloyd Kelly Bournemouth and Fabian Schar, who was out of contract in June, is in talks about a new deal.

The club have prioritized the backbone of the side with a goalscorer, an anchor in midfield and a centre-back. Brighton Leeds’ Yves Bisssouma and Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips are top targets for midfield reinforcements, while Benfica’s Darwin Nunez everton Englishman Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a target.

A new young goalkeeper could also be signed under the watchful eye of Dean Henderson and Sam Johnson, which could put pressure on Martin Dubravka. The focus will be on rising young players to lower the average age of the roster, rather than fading superstars.

Newcastle have not been a good seller in recent years as they have failed to raise money and they will have to sack squad members. They will also raise money this summer and reduce bloated squad numbers, with the biggest name at risk being £10million-rated Miguel Almiron, who is a small part-player under Howe.
