Newhaven FC officially opens new 3G course

A football club from one city had a new 3G pitch installed in time for the new season.

The state-of-the-art pitch was completed on Newhaven FC’s Fort Road site, with the project funded by government offset funding to regenerate parts of the town.

Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes, performed the ribbon cutting to officially open the site.

She said: “I was really delighted to officially open Newhaven FC’s new 3G pitch which has been funded by the Government’s £19.3million Newhaven Town Deal.

“This is one of the first projects to be completed with government funding and will really make a difference for both the football club and the wider community.

“I hope we have more opportunities to celebrate Newhaven’s ongoing renewal in the coming months as more Leveling Up projects are completed across Newhaven.”

The volunteer-run club organizes a range of events for children – including mini harbor crews every Saturday morning.

Newhaven was offered £19.3million for revitalization and regeneration last year as part of a £3.6billion government fund to invest in towns across the country to ‘level up’ the nation. Newhaven FC officially opens new 3G course
