Klopp’s substitution increase incoming
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has long argued that the Premier League must have five substitutions.
The practice was present when football was played behind closed doors during lockdown in 2020. But after the project restarted and ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, the rule was scrapped and three substitutions were the norm again. Klopp has since believed that more mid-game changes should be allowed due to the crowded schedule, but the proposal was rejected by clubs when the idea was voted on.
However, it now appears that the Premier League will take a U-turn as the change comes into effect next season.
Preseason opponent planned
Football was unable to travel the world in the pre-season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
But as the world opens up again, before the season starts, clubs are looking to travel the world again and explore markets they were forced to abandon. And it appears that Liverpool will fly to Thailand in July where they will meet Premier League rivals Manchester United in the Bangkok Century Cup.
Liverpool had started talks about a trip to the Far East earlier this year.
Transfer hit by Phillips
Liverpool can boast one of the best midfielders in the Premier League but that doesn’t mean they won’t improve on it in the summer.
While Borussia Dortmund’s rising star Jude Bellingham is a target, Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips is believed to be wanted by Premier League title challengers. Signing him from Leeds won’t be easy as rivals Manchester United are also keen to strengthen the center of the park.
But the Reds could be disappointed if the England international is reportedly keen on signing a new contract at Elland Road.
