Nicola Coughlan tells Bridgerton fans ‘it means the world’ as show breaks Netflix records

Nicola Coughlan has told Bridgerton fans, “Just wait ’til you see what we come up with for season 3,” as she reacted to the news that the series’ second season has become Netflix’s most-watched English-language show.

While the show’s first season broke records, the second season surpassed itself.

Season 2 was revealed to have watched a total of 627.11 million hours on Netflix, compared to 625.49 million hours for season 1.

Nicola, who plays Penelope Featherington on the hit series, took to Instagram earlier today to react to the exciting news.

“Really, really, drop dead crazy. Thank you for watching, rewatching and sharing your love for #Bridgerton, it means the world.”

“Just wait until you see what we come up with for Season 3.”

The Galway native is believed to be set to play a bigger role in the show next season.

In an interview with RTE Entertainment, she spoke about the show’s hot scenes.

“There’s a scene in a carriage and Penelope and Colin are arguing, but then it gets very romantic. It would be such a great scene on the show but the thought of filming it scares me,” she said.

“I’ve read the books and I know this scene is going to be very racy. I was on a show called Harlots before that, playing a whore, and my mom never saw that show, not a scene.”
