While Nicola Peltz and her groom Brooklyn Beckham urged their guests to donate to the people of Ukraine, Sandra Beckham couldn’t resist giving the actress a special, personalized gift to commemorate her big day
Coming from wealthy families and with a slew of celebrities and other millionaires on their guest list, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz could have been showered with extravagant gifts on their wedding day.
Instead, the happy couple asked their guests to make a donation to help those affected by the crisis in Ukraine, rather than giving them expensive gifts.
The polite request was seemingly ignored by David Beckham’s mother Sandra, who couldn’t resist giving her new daughter-in-law some special attention to celebrate her big day.
Days after the wedding, it was revealed that doting grandmother Sandra asked artist Adam Claridge to personalize a pair of Nike Air Force 1 sneakers for the bride.
The shoes were personalized with sentimental drawings and messages to Nicola, as well as butterflies, roses and a replica of Brooklyn’s cherub tattoo.
The shoes also feature the word ‘Bunny’, the nickname of Nicola’s grandmother, who acted as her maid of honor that day.
Artist Adam shared a snap of the finished sneakers and told his Instagram followers he was honored to be asked to create these very special ones for @nicolaannepeltzbeckham.
Other videos posted on social media showed the meticulous design process, with Adam copying a handwritten prayer onto the leather in the same script as Nicola’s grandmother for an extra personal touch.
Despite the thoughtful gift, Nicola decided to stick to tradition at the ceremony and wore a pair of bridal heels with her couture dress by Valentino.
The actress walked down the aisle with her billionaire father Nelson in a pair of white platform shoes to meet groom Brooklyn, who was wearing a tailored Dior suit.
Ahead of his wedding, Brooklyn told his wife-to-be Nicola how excited he was to wear his ensemble, which had been created for him by family friend Kim Jones.
“He couldn’t wait for me to see it,” Nicola told Vogue magazine.
Nicola and Brooklyn broke their silence on their wedding, recounting how they eschewed a traditional wedding gift list and instead asked their guests to donate to Ukraine.
In an emotional Instagram post after the three-day extravaganza, Nicola wrote: “My dad talked about it at our wedding at his wedding. Me and Brooklyn are devastated by what is going on in Ukraine and have asked for donations to CareOrg in lieu of the wedding gifts.
“Anything helps,” she added.
The couple got engaged in 2020 after a whirlwind romance, with Brooklyn popping the question at a family reunion just months after meeting the US actress.
After postponing their wedding due to the pandemic, the lovebirds finally said “I do” at the Peltz family estate in Malibu.
The grounds had been transformed with huge marquees for their guests, which were then converted to host a post-wedding brunch the following day.
