FASHION-MAD Metaverse users can now walk around in virtual Nike sneakers if they have a few thousand left.

People are paying upwards of $80,000 for some rare pairs — and it doesn’t look like they’re even going to get real ones.

As if that wasn’t expensive enough, buyers can get their hands on digital vials to change their looks.

These range from $2,500 for more common designs to $449,000 for the rarest.

The apparel giant has launched a collection of 20,000 NFT sneakers after buying virtual designers RTFKT (pronounced “artifact”) last year.

Corresponding CNETOwners can complete certain online quests that “evolve” the skins.

“Evolving a skin will burn the previous skin vial,” RTFKT said.

“As you choose to evolve your skin into different evolution trees and rarities, the EVO 1 skins will become increasingly rare.”

Those willing to pay the high price also get a Snapchat filter so they can flaunt their wares expanded reality at least.

The launch of the Nike Dunk Genesis Cryptokicks collection is the company’s latest move into the Metaverse, a new virtual world we could all one day work and socialize in.
