A car crashed into a California daycare center and 19 children were hospitalized, reports said.

The vehicle, a Suzuki SUV, struck Great Adventures Daycare in Anderson, about 150 miles north of Sacramento, on Thursday around 2:30 p.m. with pictures showing it plowing right through a wall.

Only the rear end of the car is visible as people stare in horror at the spot at Balls Ferry Road and Martha Street in the city.

Emergency services rushed to the scene with ambulances and parents to take the 19 children to the hospital.

The kindergarten center takes care of children between the ages of two and six years.

Police confirmed that children had been taken to several hospitals, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.

Police Chief Jon Poletski said there were 19 children and at least two employees in the building at the time of the crash. He did not provide any further information about the incident or the cause of the crash.

There are reports that one of the children was trapped under the car that crashed into the building.

Mercy Medical Center in Redding said nine of the children were taken to the facility and three others were taken to Saint Elizabeth’s Community Hospital in Red Bluff, it said KRCR.

Description of the school conditions: “Great Adventures is a preschool for children from 2 to the first day of first grade.

“Director has been in the childcare business for 30 years. We have tariffs that are the same for all daycare centers and preschools in the area.

“We offer breakfast, lunch and snacks. We have 3 teachers and ours are from 6:30am to 6:30pm.”
