Nintendo Switch surpasses PS4 in US, now fourth largest console in US history

The latest figures from The NPD Group show that the Nintendo Switch is now the fourth most sold console in US history, after eclipsing Sony’s PlayStation 4 sales.

Data presented in the April 2022 US Gaming Industry NPD Sales Report shows that the Nintendo Switch achieved the highest unit sales of any console both in April and all year to date. These sales surpassed the milestone set by PlayStation 4, making the Nintendo Switch the fourth-highest-selling home console in US history, behind PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii.

Last month’s NPD data showed that Xbox series consoles were the best-selling platform of 2022 in terms of dollars made, showing the continued strengthening of the Xbox brand.
