Nintendo Wii and DSi Shop Channels have been unavailable for days

The Nintendo Wii and DSi Shop channels have been offline for several days, according to a report Eurogamer. Both shops may have been down for so long on March 16 with no explanation from Nintendo.

A video of GameXplain shows exactly what happens when you select the Wii Shop Channel – you’ll see a blank white screen followed by an error code (209601) indicates network problems. The channel is down on both the Wii itself and the Wii U, which GameXplain uses to access the store. Meanwhile, the DSi shop spits out errors Code 290502which also signals that no connection to the shop can be established due to apparently non-existent internet problems.

Nintendo no longer allows players to make purchases on the DSi and Wii Shop channels 2017 and 2019or Nintendo will still let players download previously purchased games from both stores (at least if they were still online). When Nintendo first announced the closure of the Wii Shopit warned that at some point in the future players would be prevented from accessing or transferring purchased games using the Wii System Transfer Tool, but never set a firm date.

This has led some players to wonder: has that time come? now? It’s unclear if both stores are down for maintenance or if they unexpectedly closed. The edge reached out to Nintendo for comment, but didn’t immediately receive a response. Nintendo Wii and DSi Shop Channels have been unavailable for days
