Sean Bean has been criticized for his comments about intimacy coordinators being used for sex scenes in films and television shows.

“I would imagine that it slows down the thrust. Ha, not the jab, that’s the wrong word,” he said The times on Saturday.
“It would inhibit me more because it draws attention to things. Someone who says, “Do that, put your hand there while touching his thing…”. I think the natural way lovers behave would be ruined if someone brought them down to a technical exercise.”
He also said of his snowpiercer Co-star Lena Hall, with whom he filmed an unaired sex scene: “She came from a musical cabaret background, so she was up for anything.”
Hall has now responded to the comment, writing on Twitter on Monday: “I probably need to clarify some information in this random article as people are reaching out to me like ‘girls are you alright?’
“Just because I’m in the theater (not cabaret, but I do it every once in a while) doesn’t mean I’m ready for anything,” she continued.
She called Bean “an amazing actor” who “made me feel not only comfortable, but like I had a real acting partner in these bizarre scenes.”

Hall stressed the importance of intimacy coordinators, calling them “a welcome addition to the set.”
Westside Story Star Rachel Zegler, who filmed love scenes with 25-year-old Ansel Elgort when she was just 17, also responded to Bean’s comments.
She wrote: “Intimacy coordinators create a safe environment for actors. I was very thankful for the one we wore WSS – they showed grace to a newcomer like me + educated those around me who had years of experience.”
She urged Bean to “wake up,” saying, “Spontaneity in intimate scenes can be dangerous.”
Meanwhile, referring to Bean’s complaint that intimacy coordinators may reduce sex scenes to “technical exercises,” Jameela Jamil wrote, “It was only meant to be technical. It’s like a stunt. Our job as actors is to make sure it doesn’t look technical. No one wants spontaneous fumbling…”
