Noel Gallagher and Madness in line-up for Peter Blake’s 90th birthday concert

Noel Gallagher, Madness and Paul Weller are among the stars who will perform at a special concert to honor pop artist Sir Peter Blake’s 90th birthday.

ir Peter, who is best known for co-creating the cover art for The Beatles’ 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which turned 90 in June, will be honored at the Royal Festival Hall in London on December 2.

Musician Weller has arranged the line-up will also feature The Who’s Roger Daltrey, The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde and Baxter Dury, with BBC Radio 4’s John Wilson making comparisons in the evening.

Weller said: “We are coming to celebrate this outstanding artist who has given us so much over the past 70 years! Thank you, Peter! “

Sir Peter has been at the forefront of British popular culture since the 1960s, with his work including covers for two albums of The Who, Madness’s Oui Oui, Si Si, Ja Ja, Da Da, the cover of the single Do They . Know it’s Christmas? and Live Aid concert posters.

The artist is also known for designing the 2012 Brit Awards monument.

He was knighted at Buckingham Palace in 2002 for his work for the arts.

All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust charity and the Graeae Theater Company, of which Sir Peter is a founding patron.

The theater company aims to champion deaf, handicapped and neurologically malformed talents in the UK and on international stages.
