Noel Gallagher thinks most people think “Anything” about the Royal Family.

The former Oasis star believes Britons are only interested in the Queen’s Platinum Year because they get overtime leave.

Noel, 55, said he was surprised when his staff told him they would be taking a bank holiday because “the music business shouldn’t stop for the monarchy”.

He said: “Some people who work for me, I said, ‘See you guys tomorrow’. They said, ‘Oh, we’re off tomorrow. We have a day off for the holy year’.

“I was like, ‘do you want to be royal in the music business?’ I don’t have a day off, you don’t have a day off’. Anyway, everyone had a day off. ”

Noel said, 1977 Silver Jubilee was a bigger problem. “Now, its appeal is dwindling, like religion,” he said.

“There are other things for people to care about.

“I have a security guard who is a royalist who loves ‘this wonderful country’, one of them.

“But they’re dwarfed by people who are like ‘whatever, thanks for the day off but whatever’.

“Monarchy as a thing is a little odd – and if someone thinks we are one man’s subjects they are greatly mistaken.”

Noel admitted that he would be very sad when the Queen, 96, died because he did not remember a time when she was not head of state.

He said he felt sorry for her heir Prince Charles and his sons William and Harry when they were born in the school.

He said: “When the Queen passes away, it will be a big deal because she has been by our side all of our lives. I don’t like anti-royal or anything. I don’t hate the Queen or any of them, they were all born in it.

“They are the custodians of whatever England is, the Crown Jewels and all that. I’m not going to shoot them all – as I said a few times in the ’90s – but I’m not a royalist by any imagination but I don’t hate them either. “
