Norm Macdonald brought something special to the Orville series

Macdonald “appears” in 22 episodes of “The Orville” as a witty green goo (including at one time Yaphit’s human avatar), so it’s his job in the negative booth. The bar brought the character to life. It was a skill that surprised MacFarlane. In one Interview with Syfy, the series’ creator discussed the monotony of recording voiceovers for television. MacFarlane says:

“When you have a day recording the voice actors on any show, it gets a bit tedious after a while when you have a parade of them in succession. But with Norm it’s different. Norm, he can stick around for 45 minutes or an hour later, just talking and I’m there for every second. He’s just an absolute gift and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be with him. That’s as much as me.”

MacFarlane describes Macdonald’s style as, “It seems unprepared, but is actually very well prepared. And so he just makes it easy when, in fact, I’m sure he did his best.”

And although Norm Macdonald may be gone, those who know him best say his best moments will remain with us for a long time. Norm Macdonald brought something special to the Orville series
