Tensions have risen following a spate of North Korean missile tests – and now Kim Jong-un’s influential little sister Kim Yo-jong has struck out
Despot Kim Jong-un’s sister has threatened to destroy key targets in Seoul after South Korea said its missiles could “hit any target in North Korea”.
Tensions have risen after a series of North Korean ballistic missile tests – and now the influential Kim Yo-jong has lashed out, saying “South Korea should discipline itself if it wants to avert disaster”.
South Korean Defense Minister Suh Wook said his country’s military has a variety of missiles with vastly improved firing range, accuracy and performance that are “capable of accurately and quickly hitting any target in North Korea.”
Suh also said the ministry would actively support the military to ensure it was able to respond overwhelmingly to North Korea’s missile threats and branded North Korea as its “enemy.”
His comments struck a chord with Kim Yo-jong, who made a chilling statement.
According to the state news agency KCNA, she warned: “On April 1, the South Korean defense minister revealed his confrontational hysteria with the DPRK and spoke of a “preemptive strike”.
“The senseless and scumbag dares to mention in his senseless twaddle the ‘pre-emptive strike’ on a nuclear-weapon state that will never benefit South Korea either.
“He’s a confrontational maniac, immersed in the mindset of confronting his countrymen up north.
“His reckless and excessive rhetoric about the ‘preemptive strike’ has further worsened inter-Korean relations and military tensions on the Korean peninsula.
“Now we can’t help but take his confrontational hysteria seriously and rethink a lot.
“South Korea could face a serious threat over the reckless statements of its defense minister.”
Kim Yo-jong was appointed deputy department head of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea by her dictator brother Kim Jong-un, and many see her as his potential successor.

Pak Jong Chon, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, said the North would “mercilessly direct all its forces to destroy key targets in Seoul and the South Korean army” if the South Korean army intervened in dangerous military measures such as a pre-emptive strike.
The threats come after North Korea tested two ballistic missiles on Feb. 26 and March 4 that included a new ICBM system the country is developing.
The Hermit Kingdom conducted a full ICBM test last week – the first since 2017.
In response, the United States imposed sanctions on five organizations accused of helping Kim Jong-un develop weapons of mass destruction
Ballistic missile programs.
