NOTTINGHAM FOREST fans shamelessly sang ‘you let your country down’ at the direction of Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, as well as booed the 21-year-old star.
The vile chants came during Arsenal’s FA Cup third round match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Fans mentioned Saka missing out on England in the Euro 2020 final penalty shootout, even though the 21-year-old played a key role in sending the Three Lions into their first major final since 2016. 1966.
And the pointless supporters in Nottingham Forest were immediately stoned on social media.
One wrote: “The jungle fans booing Saka then singing you let your country down is so classy, then the travel fans drown them with Saka and Smith Rowe our show.”
And another said: “The jungle fans booing Saka make me feel sick.”
Another added: “Congratulations to the Arsenal fans who trumped the shameful fans cheering about Saka.”
Forest fans were also quick to condemn their supporters, with one piece writing: “Our fans booing Saka can be killed.”
It was an insensitive gesture from the Forest fans, especially Saka suffered racist abuse after the penalty.
And this is not the first time that Saka has been targeted for his miss, already suffered similar chants from Leeds United fans in August.
Meanwhile, Tottenham and Brentford fans showed quite the opposite reaction, with the Bees giving the winger a standing ovation when he came on for Arsenal before them.
Bitter opponent Spurs also give Saka a standing ovation earlier in the season, it was a great gesture for the England star.
