Premier League transfers: All the stars linked to moves before the summer window closes
Nottingham Forest meet West Ham in Sunday’s early kick-off after both sides lost their opening games last weekend. Forest look back on the rebound after a demoralizing 2-0 defeat by Newcastle in which the final score flattered Steve Cooper’s side.
An influx of signings means the manager has yet to settle on the best line-up to keep Forest in the top flight and the newly promoted side need all the support they can get from their home fans as they defeat West Ham want to upset today.
The Hammers, meanwhile, lost out and ended up with the Premier League champions for their first game of the season. Manchester City were just too good for David Moyes’ side and with Erling Haaland in front of goal, West Ham were swept aside. They won’t be too disheartened by this loss though and will see tonight’s game as a great opportunity to start their season by defeating their newly promoted opponents.

Antonio on returning to Forest
Michail Antonio spent just over a year at Nottingham Forest, scoring 19 goals in just 54 games before moving to new pastures, and the West Ham forward is looking forward to returning to the City Ground today.
“I was there for a season and enjoyed this year,” he recalls. “So it’s really nice to go back. To be fair it’s weird going back, I haven’t been back since I left and actually I’m pretty excited.
“This season I’ve managed to score 15 goals and 15 assists. I was also there in the first half of next season and managed to score four more goals. So I hope I get a nice answer when I come back. But of course I’ll come back and wear different colors, so I understand if I don’t!
“I have a lot of respect for them but of course I will go out and do my job. And hopefully I score.”

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis from Watford.
The 24-year-old scored 10 goals for the Hornets in the Premier League last season but couldn’t help maintain them.
Dennis featured in Watford’s first two Sky Bet Championship games but was not in the squad for Friday night’s win against Burnley as he completed a move to the City Ground.

Cooper meets West Ham at the City Ground
Nottingham Forest play their first home game of the season this afternoon when they take on West Ham and manager Steve Cooper is looking forward to returning to the City Ground, albeit against a difficult opponent.
Speaking of his first Premier League experience as a manager, Cooper said: “We learned a lot over the past weekend and playing that first game in the Premier League has always been important for us to move forward.” He added: “We’re natural disappointed when we lose a game because that’s our mentality but I liked the feeling of the training ground this week and there’s a real motivation for Sunday. “We know this weekend is important for both us and the people of Nottingham and we should benefit from it, it’s our first home game in the Premier League and we’re undoubtedly proud to be a part of it. “At the same time, we have to focus on what we have control over – the game, the result, the performance, and that’s what our attention will be focused on and we know our fans will be right behind us.
“We’re playing against a strong team who had an excellent season last year and I have a lot of respect for David Moyes so we’re really looking forward to it.”

“I’ve been really impressed with how they’ve approached their work over the past 12 months or so.”

Nottingham Forest v West Ham
Welcome to that of the independent Live coverage from Sunday’s Premier League action.
First, Nottingham Forest meets West Ham United at the City Ground. Both sides lost their opening day games, with Forest losing 2-0 away at Newcastle and West Ham suffering the same score thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland against Manchester City.
Both teams will be hoping to bounce back and get an early win on the board when they meet David Moyes’ men this afternoon, who have the advantage due to the strength of their side and recent Premier League experience, to end the game to win. Although Steve Cooper has been busy in the transfer window and Forest have massively bolstered their squad. If he finds the right combination of players, Forest can cause an upset this afternoon.
But that’s not all. There’s a London derby later as Chelsea host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel’s men will face a tough test against Antonio Conte’s side, who are brimming with confidence after last weekend’s 4-1 win at Southampton.
