Nottingham Forest vs West Ham LIVE: Premier League team news, line-ups and more today

Premier League transfers: All the stars linked to moves before the summer window closes

Nottingham Forest meet West Ham in Sunday’s early kick-off after both sides lost their opening games last weekend. Forest look back on the rebound after a demoralizing 2-0 defeat by Newcastle in which the final score flattered Steve Cooper’s side.

An influx of signings means the manager has yet to settle on the best line-up to keep Forest in the top flight and the newly promoted side need all the support they can get from their home fans as they defeat West Ham want to upset today.

The Hammers, meanwhile, lost out and ended up with the Premier League champions for their first game of the season. Manchester City were just too good for David Moyes’ side and with Erling Haaland in front of goal, West Ham were swept aside. They won’t be too disheartened by this loss though and will see tonight’s game as a great opportunity to start their season by defeating their newly promoted opponents.

Follow all the action as Nottingham Forest host West Ham Utd in the Premier League:

Antonio on returning to Forest

Michail Antonio spent just over a year at Nottingham Forest, scoring 19 goals in just 54 games before moving to new pastures, and the West Ham forward is looking forward to returning to the City Ground today.

“I was there for a season and enjoyed this year,” he recalls. “So it’s really nice to go back. To be fair it’s weird going back, I haven’t been back since I left and actually I’m pretty excited.

“This season I’ve managed to score 15 goals and 15 assists. I was also there in the first half of next season and managed to score four more goals. So I hope I get a nice answer when I come back. But of course I’ll come back and wear different colors, so I understand if I don’t!

“I have a lot of respect for them but of course I will go out and do my job. And hopefully I score.”

Back in the upper class

This is Nottingham Forest’s 200th Premier League game. They have won 60, drawn 59 and lost 80.

It is also their first home game in the Premier League since May 1999, when a Chris Bart-Williams goal gave them a 1-0 win over Leicester.

Nottingham Forest sign Emmanuel Dennis from Watford

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis from Watford.

The 24-year-old scored 10 goals for the Hornets in the Premier League last season but couldn’t help maintain them.

Dennis featured in Watford’s first two Sky Bet Championship games but was not in the squad for Friday night’s win against Burnley as he completed a move to the City Ground.

Head to Head: Nottingham Forest vs West Ham

This is the first meeting between the sides since a FA Cup third round draw in January 2014, which Forest won 5-0 at the City Ground.

Forest have won just two of their last 21 league games against West Ham, drawing eight and losing 11 in that span.

Cooper meets West Ham at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest play their first home game of the season this afternoon when they take on West Ham and manager Steve Cooper is looking forward to returning to the City Ground, albeit against a difficult opponent.

Speaking of his first Premier League experience as a manager, Cooper said: “We learned a lot over the past weekend and playing that first game in the Premier League has always been important for us to move forward.” He added: “We’re natural disappointed when we lose a game because that’s our mentality but I liked the feeling of the training ground this week and there’s a real motivation for Sunday. “We know this weekend is important for both us and the people of Nottingham and we should benefit from it, it’s our first home game in the Premier League and we’re undoubtedly proud to be a part of it. “At the same time, we have to focus on what we have control over – the game, the result, the performance, and that’s what our attention will be focused on and we know our fans will be right behind us.

“We’re playing against a strong team who had an excellent season last year and I have a lot of respect for David Moyes so we’re really looking forward to it.”

Moyes about Cooper

Ahead of tonight’s game, West Ham boss David Moyes spoke about his counterpart Steve Cooper and how impressed he was with Nottingham Forest’s promotion from the Championship last year.

“I have a lot of respect for Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper,” said Moyes: “I think he’s done an incredible job of getting Nottingham Forest into the Premier League, where they were last year. He has to be given a lot of credit for what they have done.

“I’ve been really impressed with how they’ve approached their work over the past 12 months or so.”
