Lingerie brand Nudea has received B Corporation certification and recently ran a successful crowdfunding round raising over £470,000.
B Corp status
Sustainable, design-oriented underwear brand, Naked has announced its B Corporation (or B Corp) certification, joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing both purpose and profit. Nudea is proud to be one of only three UK lingerie brands to have met B Lab’s strict social and environmental standards. Nudea is also taking the lead globally as one of the few brands offering technical bras and briefs that have achieved such status.
B Corp certification covers the entirety of a company’s operations and covers five key areas of impact: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. The certification process is rigorous, applicants must achieve a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices in relation to energy supply, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete certification, the company will legally embed its commitment to a cause beyond profit into its corporate charter.
Priya Downes, CEO and Founder of Nudea, comments: “We are delighted to share this fantastic announcement of Nudea’s B-Corp certification and continue our ‘CareMore’ commitment with an exemplary B-Impact score of 103*. B Corp is one of the most demanding certifications, evaluating the social and environmental impact of brands, with over 300 questions on corporate governance, workers, communities and environmental impact. It is the result of collaborative work at Nudea that began in April 2021 and after 10 months of rigorous review and legal scrutiny, we are proud to be part of the B Corp community.”
“This certification provides Nudea with a powerful framework to accelerate our ambitions to be a leader in this category. It also affirms our commitment to continuous improvement and challenge Do better by using our business as a force for good for the benefit of all people, communities and the planet.”
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says: “We are delighted to welcome Nudea to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies dedicated to changing the way businesses work and believing that businesses can truly be a force for good. We know that Nudea will be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue to drive the conversation forward.”

We’ve just closed a crowd fund that, despite being more focused on retail investors, has still resulted in 80% of the 670 new investors being men
