Nurture at the heart of MOONHUB’s new VR training suite, ELARA

Following its recent multi-million investment round, the UK’s leading VR training platform, MOONHUB, has expanded its offering of Virtual Reality (VR) training suites into the healthcare and social sectors with the launch of ELARA.

Starting with Dementia Care Training, ELARA brings a new approach to traditional classroom and eLearning methods; Empowering healthcare professionals to improve patient care through patented, highly immersive, low-risk VR training.

“Dementia affects everyone differently and can be a very distressing experience,” he said Claire Surr, Professor of Dementia Studies and Director of the Center for Dementia Research, Leeds Beckett University who co-curated Elara’s new training program. “Staff need to understand how people with dementia see the world and how what other people say and do, as well as the physical environment, impacts the person’s well-being and behavior.

With VR training, I helped curate staff in realistic care scenarios to help them develop the skills and knowledge to prevent or reduce stress. Research suggests that experiential dementia training can help increase their empathy and understanding, and potentially improve the quality of caregiver performance. We hope VR offers an exciting way to offer experiential learning opportunities.”

MOONHUB’s patented VR technology creates a 360° video recording learning environment that recreates lifelike scenarios. The training plan highlights how dementia can affect a person’s behavior and guides caregivers how to identify triggers or reasons for stress and provides techniques to improve communication to support patients’ needs.

Post-training, attendees receive a comprehensive view of their performance through a personal dashboard, enabling organizations to make informed, data-driven decisions about caregiver potential and better streamline solutions. The result is a caregiver with refined technical skills, increased cognitive awareness and an understanding that dementia is only a diagnosis and not a definition of their patients.

Martin Green, Managing Director, Care England comments: “The launch of MOONHUB’s virtual reality training is a very creative way of delivering training for nurses. This new system has the potential to revolutionize the training experience, offering an interactive and comprehensive approach to training and development.”

The content of MOONHUB’s ELARA dementia training follows the learning outcomes of the Dementia Training Standards Framework, is approved and accredited by CPD Standards and is recognized by Care England – the largest and most diverse body of independent adult social care providers in England.

“The pandemic has put health and social care in the spotlight, highlighting their strength and resilience at the most troubling of times. We immediately recognized the importance of social care and the need for investment and development in the future. When we started building the program, we wanted to make sure we had the right resources and expertise to deliver a state-of-the-art experience for trainees in the healthcare sector,” he said Dami Hastrup, Founder and CEO of MOONHUB. “We believe dementia education and training is critical for health and social care professionals and we are incredibly excited to be the first to offer an immersive and accessible solution to empower learners with the appropriate person-centric care through the power of VR further education.”

For MOONHUB, VR is the only way forward for professional development and career development. Deployable remotely and requiring no physical premises to run, learners can train anytime, anywhere. In addition, VR accelerates learning. Compared to traditional learning methods, VR learners retain 75% more knowledge than e-learning (10%) and classroom training (5%). VR learners also report that they are 275% more confident using the skills learned in the field. In addition, VR training can save up to 64% compared to traditional training approaches.

This month, MOONHUB successfully raised $2.6 million in seed funding from global proptech venture capital firm Pi Labs. As part of the VC’s 2022 growth program, MOONHUB will continue to grow its operations and VR product innovation with the help of global technology experts, consultants and investors.
