Old School RuneScape adds Beneath Cursed Sands master quest, updates on inventory rework issues

A new quest is now available in Old school RuneScape. Beneath Cursed Sands was added as a preview and support for the upcoming new Tombs of Amascut raid.

With the new raid set for release this summer, described as “our most narrative-driven raid yet,” the quest serves as both an introduction to the Kharidian Desert and a narrative of its own. The quest is initiated as follows:

“When Sophanem was struck by a series of plagues, the gates of the golden city of Menaphos quickly closed. Since then they have been locked – nobody goes in and nobody comes out. However, there are rumors of strange happenings within the city walls and tales of Menaphite citizens who have mysteriously disappeared.

Someone has to investigate, but few are willing to take the risk. Maisa, a spy for Al Kharid, is fed up with inactivity. She’s determined to solve this mystery – but she can’t do it alone…”

So there’s no shortage of intrigue or work for this master level quest. With this level, you need to complete a few specific achievement levels to gain access, but once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to engage in quests for rewards. These rewards for successful completion include 2 quest points, access to Tombs of Amascut (when it comes out), and 20,000 Agility XP.

The quest also gives you access to two new unique items, the Keris Partisan and the Circlet of Water. The Keris Partisan is an upgrade of the Keris knife purchased in Contact! The upgrade turns it into a spear of sorts and adds extra damage. You should save it for the upcoming raid where there is another opportunity to upgrade. The Circlet of Water is a non-tradable helm that uses water runes and acts like a waterskin when worn.

There is also an update on the inventory system rework issues. Last week, the team attempted to update and modernize the system, but encountered several major issues. They’ve been slow to apply fixes as it was “virtually impossible” to get everything back to what it was in bulk.
